Puke Has Never Been So Interesting! See What This Owl Ate For Dinner!!

What is an Owl Pellet exactly? Allow us to explain! Owls eat A LOT of things that they are not actually capable of digesting such as the feathers, fur, claws, teeth, bills, beaks, skulls, & bones of their prey! But, because Owl’s bodies are so incredible, about 6-10 hours after a meal the indigestible pieces form into a pellet in the Owl’s gizzard (muscular stomach) and then move onto its proventriculus (glandular stomach). From here, the Owl will regurgitate its meal-compressed pellet!! Owl pellets are fascinating to dissect as they provide evidence to what they last ate!

How do you examine an Owl pellet? Well, its pretty straight forward! After carefully removing the protective foil wrapping, use the wooden stick (or any delicate probling tool you’d like) to dissect & extract the dinner remains! Figuring out exactly what you’ve pulled from the pellet is easy, just refer to the bone guide for identification!

These “Real Deal” Owl Pellet packets include:

  • One Owl Pellet

  • One Wooden Pick

  • One Bone Identification Card

These pellets have been heat sterilized, however, we always recommend using gloves during the dissection process & a thorough hand washing after you’re done!

You will receive an Owl Pellet packet similar or exact to what is pictured.
